Another Celebrity Engagement

Country singer, Carrie Underwood, sports her lovely new yellow diamond engagement ring.

We happen to have a gorgeous natural yellow diamond ring in the store right now. It is a 3/4 carat oval flanked by trillion-cut white diamonds. It truly is breath-taking.

Come see how beautiful a yellow diamond can be while it lasts!

Princess Diana's Engagement Ring

Prince William proposed to long time girlfriend Kate Middleton yesterday giving her his mother's blue sapphire and diamond ring.
I came across this photo on a blog from three years ago and don't know if this is an image of Princess Diana's actual ring. But, I also read that jewelers across the country (also in Britian?) are being flooded with requests for replica rings.
At Perri Jewelers we happen to have two gorgeous blue sapphire and diamond rings quite similar to the one shown here.
One is breathtaking in white gold with a spray of baguette diamonds around a clear, medium blue oval sapphire.
The other is stunning in 18K yellow gold with two rows of diamonds around the deep blue oval sapphire. Come view these lovelies while they last.

Benrus

A customer dropped off a Benrus watch for a battery. When it didn't work with a new battery our watch repair tech looked into repairing the watch. Quartz movements usually aren't repairable but get replaced. In this case the movement was stamped Benrus and a replacement movement wasn't available to us. So I began doing some research. I thought I'd see if we could send the watch to Benrus for repair.
I found something very interesting. A fascinating history of the Benrus brand which also follows some general history of the watch industry.
According to a story on the website The Watch Guy, Benrus along with a few other known watch brands, is now defunct. But, companies either buy the rights to use the names or just use them anyway. What a disappointment to learn that Waltham doesn't actually make watches anymore but I could buy a watch marked Waltham and styled after a Waltham that really is an inexpensive watch that parts cannot be procured for.
